About the experience.
Grupo Xcaret’s Xenotes tour collects you from your hotel with a certified guide. Lu’um, the youngest of the four, is a cavern cenote entered by an assisted rappel of 82 feet through its dome. At K’áak’, an open cenote, and Iik’, an ancient one, there are zip-lines and jumps into the water. At Ha’, a semi-open cenote, you kayak and swim.
The Maya called these sinkholes dz’onot, “cavern with water,” and the modern word cenote comes from it. After the first cenote there are hot and cold drinks and seasonal fruit; later, a picnic in the jungle with soup, cold meats, cheeses, breads and salads, with wine and beer.

01Do we need to be experienced to rappel?
The rappel into Lu’um is assisted by the guides, from 82 feet (25 m). Tell us the ages of your group and we confirm any requirements before you pay.
02How deep is the water?
At Lu’um, the cavern cenote, the water is 69 to 82 feet (21 to 25 m) deep. Life jackets are provided.
03Are towels and showers available?
Yes. Restrooms, showers, changing rooms and towels are included.
04Is Xenotes run by Villa Experience?
No. Xenotes is operated by Grupo Xcaret. We book the tour and confirm the details for your date.
